The Academy awards scholarships to young lawyers who demonstrate promise and potential. The Singapore Academy of Law Scholarships are awarded to applicants who are planning to pursue their postgraduate studies in law, on the basis of their ability to contribute to the development of the law and the legal system, and to the growth and learning of the legal profession in Singapore. The places of study have included, in the past, Harvard Law School, Yale Law School and Peking (Beijing) University Law School. These scholars are not bonded to SAL, but are required to serve for a period of five years in institutions approved by the Academy. Scholars are also expected to take an active role in the Academy programmes, upon successful completion of their studies.
