Honorary Members are elected by the Senate for life or for such period as the Senate may in any case considered appropriate.

Over the years, the Senate of the Academy has appointed 5 persons as Honorary Fellows:
  • Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew (in 1990)
  • the late Dr Wee Chong Jin (in 1991)
  • the late Dr David Marshall (in 1991)
  • the former Chief Justice Mr Yong Pung How (in 2006)
  • Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security Professor S Jayakumar (in 2008)

in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the legal and judicial system, and to the stature of the legal profession in Singapore.
