The Academy launched
a publishing
division, known as
Academy Publishing,
in mid-2007. Academy
Publishing is
responsible for the
selection and
publication of a
range of
primary legal
material
(reported judgments)
and secondary
material (selected
law books,
academic journals
and
periodicals) for
the profession.
Its threefold aims
are to:
(1) Disseminate the
laws of Singapore to
a wider public in
the region and
internationally;
(2) Provide
affordable legal
materials to the
legal profession;
and
(3) Provide an
alternative avenue
to the academics in
our law schools to
publish their
writings and thereby
to encourage them to
produce more works.
Academy
Publishing’s primary
focus is on local
law to serve the
local legal
community:
- The
Singapore Law
Reports, the
official law
reports series
in Singapore,
are published
under the aegis
of Academy
Publishing. The
Council of Law
Reporting
oversees the
function of
law reporting
in Singapore.
-
A
Commissioning
Panel
identifies legal
topics that are
of practical
importance to
the legal
profession and
which are to be
published as law
books and
monographs by
Academy
Publishing.
- The
Publications
Committee is
responsible for
the content of
the Academy’s
academic
journals, such
as the bi-annual
Singapore
Academy of Law
Journal,
specialist
issues of the
Singapore
Academy of Law
Journal on
selected legal
topics, and the
Annual Review of
Singapore Cases.
