Singapore law, which has its roots in English law, has now evolved into a distinctive jurisprudence. It continues to absorb and modify the common law as well as best practices from other mature legal systems. Developments in Singapore law reflect an acute awareness of current societal trends, as well as commercial practices of domestic and international businesses. Today, Singapore law has come to be the most frequently chosen among Asian national laws as the applicable law governing contracts, as published in a 2005 report by the International Court of Arbitration, and the Singapore legal system has received numerous international accolades for its integrity and efficiency.
