First
published in 1992 by
Butterworths Asia with
authority from the Academy,
the Singapore Law Reports is
the official law reports
series in Singapore. The
series reports on a
fortnightly basis, all
legally-significant cases
heard in the Singapore Court
of Appeal, High Court, and
the Constitutional Tribunal.
From 2003, the Academy took
over full responsibility for
the publication of the
Singapore Law Reports. Apart
from appearing in print ,
the Singapore Law Reports is
also available online on
LawNet2.
The Academy has embarked on
a major project to re-issue
the Singapore Law Reports
from 1965 through 2009 with
re-written headnotes for the
reports from 1965–2002, and
re-edited judgment texts,
that will conform to the SAL
house-style. The Singapore
Law Reports (Reissue) is
slated for publication in
early 2010; the Reissue
together with the Singapore
Law Reports current series
will form the complete set
of law reports published by
the Academy.
The Council of Law Reporting
oversees the function of law
reporting in Singapore. A
Selection Panel appointed by
the Council selects
judgments that meet the
established criteria for
reporting in the Singapore
Law Reports. The criteria
are consistent with best
practices in the leading
common law jurisdictions.
The Singapore Law Reports
embodies Singapore’s
jurisprudence and is a
pillar in the development of
the law and the legal system
in Singapore. |
