The Legal Heritage Committee carries out activities to preserve, document and promote a greater awareness of Singapore's legal history. To this end, various oral history projects have been undertaken, including one with Professor Lionel Astor “Lee” Sheridan, the first Dean of the Law Faculty of the National University of Singapore. To enhance the quality of these projects, the National Archives of Singapore has been contracted to organize, archive and maintain all interview recordings pursuant to their best practices.

In 2005, Essays in Singapore Legal History was conceptualised and published, detailing the history of the legal system and profession in Singapore, including topics such as the history of law reporting, the development of the land registration system, and the history of the Singapore Legal Service.

A – perhaps the – highlight of 2008 for the Legal Heritage Committee was the Legal Heritage Exhibition 2008, held in conjunction with the Academy’s 20th Anniversary celebrations. A tremendous outreach programme, Singaporeans from all walks of life were treated to a tour of the old Supreme Court building, including areas previously closed to the public such as the lock-ups and the Chief Justice’s Chamber.
