Amendments to the Singapore Academy of Law Act – Stakeholding and IPC Status
Amendments to the Singapore Academy of Law Act – Stakeholding and IPC Status
With effect from 17 February 2010, the Academy will have its stakeholding function and power to retain income earned on stakeholding made statutory.  Section 4 of the Singapore Academy of Law Act (the “SAL Act”) will be amended to make the function and power express.  With effect from 17 February 2010, the Academy will cease to be an Institution of a Public Character. Section 23 of the SAL Act will be amended accordingly. Consequently, tax-deductible receipts will not be issued for donations made on or after 17 February 2010.

Following the Opening of the Legal Year on 09 Jan 2010, the Honourable the Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong launched the Singapore Law Reports (Reissue) (“SLR(R)”) with a video showcasing its features such as new headnotes, new pinpoint citations as well as additional noter-ups. In accordance to the Supreme Court Practice Direction No 4 of 2009, the SLR(R) is to be cited in preference to other editions of the Singapore Law Reports.
