The Professional Affairs Committee is representative of all sectors of the legal community in Singapore. It provides a forum for the discussion of issues affecting the law, administration of justice and legal profession, with a view to making recommendations for change, if necessary.

The Committee forms Sub-Committees and Working Groups from time to time, such as the Custody of Clients’ Monies Sub-Committee. The Chapters of the Committee include the Young Members Chapter, Corporate Counsel Chapter, Offshore Lawyers Chapter, Professional Development and Practice Chapter and Professional Values Chapter.

The work of the Committee covers a wide spectrum. It includes, for example, the review and report on issues relating to the contempt of court before registrars in chambers, and on topics such as the enhancement of professional values. Other efforts include on-going work to publish a book on professional advocacy standards, and continuing legal education activities like the Talks with Experts Series.
