| Review of the Admissibility of Opinion Evidence | Due to increasing recourse to expert evidence, there is a need to review the provisions governing admissibility of and the procedures for admitting expert evidence. The major focus of this review relates to whether these provisions are consistent with the developments in the common law of expert evidence. | | Enforcement of Matrimonial Orders | This project reviews the issue of enforcement of matrimonial orders under two heads:
1) "Reciprocal Enforcement of Matrimonial Orders" aims to rationalise and modernise the two schemes of reciprocal enforcement of matrimonial orders which are currently governed by the Maintenance Orders (Facilities for Enforcement) Act (Cap 168) and the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act (Cap 169).
2) "Ancillary Orders after Foreign Annulment or Divorce" deals with the problem of the lack of jurisdictional basis for Singapore courts to grant ancillary orders after a foreign divorce or annulment has been obtained. | | Proposal on the Enactment of a Powers of Attorney Act | In view of the lack of comprehensive legislation governing powers of attorney in general, this project proposes the enactment of legislation to clarify the proof and forms of instruments creating powers of attorney, their effects and other issues relating to powers of attorney (but excluding the issue of enduring powers of attorney which is being addressed in other studies and forums). | | Legal Professional Privilege | This study on legal advice privilege and litigation privilege seeks to address some of the problems and uncertainties in the application of common law authorities and relevant Evidence Act provisions. | | Examination of Online Gaming and its Coverage under Singapore Gaming Legislation | The objective of this study is to examine the coverage and adequacy of existing legislation in Singapore in relation to online gaming, which includes interactive gaming activities on the Internet and other forms of electronic communication such as telephone and wireless mobile devices. |
