Building on the well-received Tax Primer for Lawyers held on 24 November 2017 and 26 January 2018 that provided a foretaste of the tax considerations that should inform a Singapore lawyer when architecting deals and advising on any transaction and arrangement with wholly domestic or international perspectives, the Singapore Academy of Law is pleased to present a roundtable discussion.
Open to private practice lawyers, in particular those practising in the fields of M & A, corporate restructuring, intellectual property, and banking and finance; and in-house counsels especially in SMEs or corporates with regional presence, this roundtable discussion provides an avenue for members of the legal profession to surface and discuss with the panellists who have extensive experience in tax practice, tax issues encountered by them in the various transactions in their areas of practice given the domestic and international tax environments their clients operate in. Burning questions such as, “What legal education help do members need in the areas of Singapore and international income taxation to support their clients’ businesses and decision-making processes?” will also be addressed.
This discussion affords members of the legal profession a unique opportunity to engage with the panellists on matters that will shape the future of tax education through continuing legal education to equip members with key and essential skillsets and knowledge in domestic and international taxation to enhance their legal capabilities.
