Mark A. Cohen is the inaugural LIFTED Catalyst-in-Residence @ Singapore Academy of Law. The LIFTED initiative connects international thought leaders with the Singapore legal community. The objective is  to engage in thoughtful dialogue that produces meaningful action to improve legal services delivery and professional education and training.

Mark is currently CEO of Legal Mosaic and Chairman of the Board of Advisors and Chief Strategy Officer of Elevate Services. He is also a Distinguished Fellow at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

As a long-time advocate for and participant in re-inventing legal services to better meet the needs of corporate and individual clients, Mark advises and speaks on issues of legal practice and delivery in a rapidly changing global legal services market. Most recently, Mark delivered a TED talk to kick-off the Global Legal Hackathon in San Francisco. A full list of Mark’s speaking engagements can be accessed here. 

Mark writes prolifically on issues of legal technology, practice innovation, the business of law, and legal education and training. He is a regular contributor to Forbes. His LegalMosaic blog was recently recognized by the American Bar Association as one of the 50 outstanding worldwide legal blogs in their inaugural “Web 100.” A comprehensive collection of Mark’s writing can be accessed here.

Leeran Gold

Leeran Gold

Leeran Gold is an Australian-registered psychologist who has been living and working in Singapore since 2014. Leeran's knowledge and experience in the field of Forensic Psychology has given her insight and awareness of the interplay between mental health and the criminal justice system. She is passionate about working with legal professionals to promote wellbeing and reduce the stigma of mental health issues amongst lawyers. Leeran's other areas of interest include youth mental health, working with addictions, and managing complex cases. She conducts medico-legal assessments for adults and is trained to deliver testimony in legal proceedings. Leeran enjoys public speaking and regularly delivers workshops, professional development seminars, and conference presentations for a wide range of professionals. In her spare time, Leeran enjoys adventure travel, martial arts, and the outdoors. 

Leeran has a Master of Psychology (forensic) degree and has held adjunct teaching positions at Bond University. She was the first Australian to be selected as the International Visiting Researcher for Singapore's Home Team Academy Behavioural Sciences Center. Leeran has presented papers at multiple conferences including the Asian Conference of Criminal and Operational Psychology, the Asia-Pacific Association of Threat Assessment Professional Annual Conference, and the Interpol World Congress. Leeran is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, Asia-Pacific Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services. 


Margaret Hagan

Margaret Hagan is the Director of the Legal Design Lab and a lecturer at Stanford Institute of Design (the  She was a fellow at the from 2013-2014, where she launched the Program for Legal Tech & Design, experimenting in how design can make legal services more usable, useful & engaging. She teaches a series of project-based classes, with interdisciplinary student groups tackling legal challenges through user-focused research and design of new legal products and services.  She also leads workshops to train legal professionals in the design process, to produce client-focused innovation.  

Margaret graduated from Stanford Law School in June 2013. She served as a student fellow at the Center for Internet & Society and president of the Stanford Law and Technology Association. While a student, she built the game app Law Dojo to make studying for law school classes more interactive & engaging.  She also started the blog Open Law Lab  to document legal innovation and design work.  Margaret holds an AB from the University of Chicago, an MA from Central European University in Budapest, and a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast in International Politics.  She is originally from Pittsburgh.


Rachel Spearing

Rachel Spearing is a senior Barrister practising in London with over 15 years of experience in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters with a particular emphasis on business crime, financial & regulatory and disciplinary law. Prior to being a Barrister, she worked in Capital Markets within a US investment bank, in 2014 she attended the Cambridge University Institute of Criminology adding a Masters in Global Risk Management and Criminology to support her work with business. A qualified civil mediator, she has particular expertise in handling difficult or vulnerable clients. Rachel also works with Executive Boards at organizational level to assist in risk management and reporting. 

In 2014, she became the co-founder with the UK General Council of the Bar and chair of the Bar Wellbeing Initiative, which aims to address and support the challenges facing the legal profession. Her research has been published globally and she was recently recognized for her contribution to the profession by being shortlisted for a European Leadership Award. Appointed a Fellow of Higher Education & Academia in 2016, she has developed bespoke executive education and training for boards and business to facilitate regulatory, due-diligence and monitoring requirements. A visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth she was appointed a Senior Consultant to the Singapore Academy of Law in June 2017. 

Rachel also provides consultancy via a ‘think tank’ to sport and business Leaders (including the Royal College of Surgeons) in regulatory, and disciplinary matters. She has designed and delivered execute education training via FCO, Commonwealth and Consultancy to the Nigerian Government, British Virgin Islands, and Corporate clients in financial, regulatory law and Penology. She sits on the UK General Council of The Bar International Committee and General Council.



Duc V. Trang

Duc V. Trang currently is the Managing Director of Landon Advisory Services and serves as Adjunct Professor of Law at the National University of Singapore (and formerly at the Central European University). Duc previously was Vice President, Legal & Government Affairs at Motorola Solutions, Inc., and served as general counsel for the Asia Pacific & Middle East region and global general counsel of Motorola's Solutions & Services business division. Duc has also worked in-house as senior counsel for IBM and in private practice with White & Case and DLA Piper. He is a former Executive Director of the Constitutional and Legal Policy Institute in Budapest. Duc lectures frequently in the following areas: compliance, anti-corruption, leadership, transformation and change management, and has published in the areas of constitutional courts, human rights, corruption, telecommunication regulations, and foreign investments in Vietnam. Duc currently is writing a book, Basic Principles for Architecting Deals & Contract Design, scheduled to be published in 2018. 

Duc is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, and of the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
